Newt Gingrich is actually praising Rick Santorum for running a positive campaign -- an obvious swipe at Mitt Romney. In the days ahead, look for Gingrich and Santorum to double-team Romney. Regardless of what happens, South Carolina will be the big showdown that could decide the nomination. It looks like going forward, its Romney, Santorum and Gingrich emerging out of Iowa as the top three.

With 99% reporting, Mitt Romney has taken a 63-vote lead. Karl Rove was right about those remaining precincts of Iowa voters. Santorum was smart to speak immediately. Mitt Romney will go last.
